Prove your Knowledge for $50
Here at NTC, our customers tell us all the time that there is no way to effectively evaluate a technician’s level of knowledge. Core Competency Certification (C3) is a new program by NTC which provides an effective way to evaluate a technician’s level of knowledge. It is based on current technology, current code requirements and industry best practices.
C3 is focused on the core competencies of the low voltage industry. C3 provides four levels of certification for each core competency. The four competencies are:
- Intrusion Systems
- Fire Alarm Systems
- Video Security Systems
- Access Control Systems
This is a knowledge based certification, so any technician can test at any level. There are no experience prerequisites. Additionally, there is no need to pass lower level tests prior to taking the more advanced exams. Technicians may test at the level appropriate for them.
Another important factor with C3 is exam availability. This program is immediately available. There is no need to schedule a time to take the test. Industry professionals are able to take the test immediately upon registration. Working in the field there are many resources available to get answers to questions. Everyday work is open book. C3 is an open book test. As such there is no need for elaborate security measures. The tests reflect the way we work in the field.
C3 is a way for industry professionals to verify they are knowledgeable in the field. It is a distinguishing factor, and a way to demonstrate professional development. C3 can be used by technicians to distinguish themselves in a tough job market.
C3 is a way for employers to evaluate their employees. C3 provides a strong indicator of an employee’s knowledge in the core competencies of the low voltage industry. Employers can use C3 to assist in determining when employees are ready to take on more responsibility. Employers can also use C3 to evaluate “New Employees” technical knowledge level.
