NTC’s NICET Fire Alarm training is focused on the codes and references permitted in the NICET Level III and IV exams. This class focuses on the references permitted into the Level III and IV exams and the topics covered in each exam. In addition, students are exposed to sample questions and learn how to answer them using references.

The class is focused on using the codes and references permitted in the specific exams covered by the class. Each class is specifically geared towards the knowledge, skills, and experience required to achieve that level of certification. Each class is designed to build on knowledge and skills developed in the previous class, allowing the student to progress rapidly through the NICET certification process to achieve the certification goals.

Note: We require each student to have their own personal copies of the appropriate code books for the exam they will be taking. The training involves learning to use these books (which are also the permitted references for the NICET exam), and students will have a more fulfilling training experience if they have these books.

Details

Understanding proper fire alarm system design is a critical job function for anyone involved in fire alarm systems work. A proper understanding of the fire alarm codes helps the fire alarm professional to achieve the desired life safety results by designing and installing code-compliant fire alarm systems.

NTC’s Fire Alarm System Design Workshop is intended for fire alarm professionals designing fire alarm systems. This course discusses the proper application of the fire alarm codes and reinforces the student’s ability to properly apply the codes. In addition, students attending this course will develop a stronger understanding of fire alarm systems, including the requirements of NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm Code) and the IBC (International Building Code).

The course will also instruct students on system design using CAD-based design software. Students will apply code requirements to sample fire alarm projects and design the system using FireCAD® design software (note: 30 days access to FireCAD® is included with the class, but you can use any CAD-based software you prefer). The course is taught by experienced NICET Certified instructors who will guide the students through the design process.

Details

Proper installation of ERCES (Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement Systems), also known as BDA or DAS, requires specific knowledge of building and fire code requirements. This 3-day hands-on class will guide individuals through the proper design, installation, and implementation of these systems to ensure maximum performance and code compliance. This training will focus on best practices for installation, testing, and commissioning of ERCES system equipment. This class will also help prepare students to pass the NICET IB-PSC (In-Building Public Safety Communications) exam.

Students will receive a copy of the Complete ERCES Handbook, the complete definitive guide to ERCES systems.   The ERCES Handbook is also a permitted reference in the NICET IB-PSC exams.
